Amar Textile Mills

If you head over to Dharam Singh Market, you’ll find us on the first floor at shop number 21. Amar Textile Mills has been operating out of this market space for years. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when we’re carrying rolls of fabric, but we’re used to it. The market is always buzzing with people looking for deals. We’ve got stacks of textiles everywhere you look. It’s not the neatest place, but we know where everything is. We spend our days talking to suppliers and checking the quality of the cloth coming in. Sometimes the lighting in the market isn't the best, so we have to take things near the window to really see the colors. It’s a noisy environment with all the other shops nearby, but that’s just how a textile market is. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and someone will be there behind a pile of fabric. We’ve got a few old desks and some fans that have seen better days. We focus on getting the orders out on time. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and scrap. We sweep up at the end of the day, but it’s back to the same by noon the next day. It’s a busy life, but we like being in the middle of the trade. We’ve been on this floor since we started and it feels like home.
