Vanaja Rice Mundy

We are located out in Veerakeralam on Nethaji Road. It’s a quiet enough area near the Seeranaikkenpalayam Post, which makes it easy for folks to find us. Our place, Vanaja Rice Mundy, is mostly about rice, just like the name says on the front. We have different varieties stacked in big bags all over the floor. It can get a bit dusty with all the grain moving around, but that’s just how a rice shop is. We’ve been at this spot, No 147/61, for quite a few years now. Farmers and suppliers bring the stock in, and we sort it out for the local families and smaller shops nearby. Coimbatore has a lot of places like ours, but we just focus on our little corner of the world. It’s not a supermarket. You won't find fancy lights or air conditioning here. Just bags of rice and a big weighing scale that we use all day. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about which grain is better for idli or for their daily meals. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to food. My family helps out with the lifting and the record books. It's a lot of physical work, moving those heavy sacks, but we are used to it by now. People usually come by on their scooters to pick up a month's supply. We know the regulars well. It’s just a simple business on a busy road.
