Sri Vari Coirs

We’ve been here at 1/11, Palladam Road for a while now. If you drive through Puliampatti, you’ll probably see the trucks turning in. At Sri Vari Coirs, we spend most of our mornings just getting the yard ready. It’s dusty work, and the sun gets pretty hot by noon, but that’s just how the coir business goes. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a simple place where we get the job done. Sometimes the machines act up or the weather doesn't cooperate when we're trying to dry things out, but we manage. Most of the people working here are from around the neighborhood. We know each other's families and usually share tea together in the afternoons when things quiet down a bit. It’s not a complicated life. We take the raw husks and turn them into something useful. It keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. People stop by to ask directions sometimes because we're right on the main road. We don't mind. We just keep moving the stacks and making sure the loads are ready for whenever the next driver shows up. There’s always a layer of brown fiber on our clothes by the end of the shift, but it’s honest work. We don't spend much time on the computer or writing big reports. We just focus on the piles in front of us and making sure the gates are locked at night. That’s pretty much us.
