Sivsai Cashew Industries

Mettupalayam has a lot of places but we are tucked away in the Veerasamy Lay Out. The building at 103 J1 is where we do all the cashew processing. It isn't a massive factory like the ones you see on the news but we get the job done. Sivsai Cashew Industries is basically a group of us working through the piles of raw nuts. The smell of the roasting is something you never really get used to even after years of being here in Mahadevapuram. We spend a lot of time sorting the pieces from the whole ones because that is what people want. Sometimes the shipments are late and we just have to wait around drinking water and talking about the weather. It gets really humid here and that makes the work a bit slower than I would like. The floors are always a bit messy with shells no matter how many times we sweep them up. We don't have a big corporate team or anyone in suits. It is just us in our work clothes trying to get through the crates before the weekend hits. Most of our neighbors are doing different things but they know us by the sound of the cracking machines. We just keep our heads down and handle the cashews as they come in from the trucks. It is simple work but it keeps us busy enough throughout the year. We don't bother with anything fancy here.
