Shanmuga Ricemill

Our place is Shanmuga Ricemill and we are located at No: 1, 1st Street. It’s a very simple setup. We don't have a long address because we are right at the start of the street. Being at number one makes it easy for people to find us, even if the street is a bit tucked away. We deal with rice all day long. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving bags from one side of the room to the other. The floor is usually covered in a thin layer of husk and grain. We don't mind it. It’s part of the trade. We have a few machines that have been working for years. They are old but they still do the job well enough for us. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill around. We just want to do our work and go home. The neighbors on 1st Street are used to the sound of the mill starting up in the morning. We try not to be too loud too early, but there is always work to be done. Most of the people who come here are regulars. They know us and we know them. We don't bother with fancy advertisements or things like that. If someone needs rice milled, they just come to the first house on the street. It’s a basic life, but it suits us fine. We just keep our heads down and work. Anyway, the days go by fast when you are busy.
