Santosh Farms

Our farm is at No: 2-255-4, in Annai Nagar, which is part of Chinnampalayam. It’s not just a business for us; it’s where we spend every single day, regardless of whether it’s a holiday or not. The land keeps us busy from the moment the sun starts coming up. We have different sections for whatever we are growing, and there is always something that needs water or weeding. Annai Nagar is a quiet place for the most part, except for the sound of tractors or birds. The dirt here is good, but it takes a lot of effort to keep things growing right. We don’t use any big fancy corporate methods, we just do what we learned from the people before us. Some years are better than others depending on the monsoon. My boots are usually caked in mud by the time I go inside for lunch. We keep some of the produce in a small shed near the entrance of the property. People from Chinnampalayam sometimes come directly to us to see what’s fresh and what we have pulled from the ground that morning. We don't have a big storefront, just the farm itself and the rows of plants. It’s a lot of physical labor, and my back usually aches by Sunday, but it’s the life we have here. We just focus on the soil and the plants and hope the weather stays on our side for the upcoming harvest.
