Sangara Polytechnic College

Down on Saravanampatti Main Road in Coimbatore, you’ll find Sangara Polytechnic College. It’s a busy place because Saravanampatti has grown so much lately with all the traffic and new buildings. The college has several blocks where the students spend their time in different workshops and labs. You can usually hear the sound of machines running or students clanking tools around when you walk past the practical rooms. It’s a bit of a walk from the main gate to the far end of the campus. Most of the students come in on buses or bikes, and the parking area gets pretty crowded by ten in the morning. We have a lot of dusty textbooks in the library and the desks in the lecture halls have plenty of scratches from years of use. It’s not a fancy corporate campus; it’s more of a practical place where people are trying to learn a trade or some engineering basics. The cafeteria is always busy with students drinking tea and talking about their exams or projects. The teachers are mostly busy grading papers or setting up equipment for the next class. Coimbatore is known for its industries, so we just focus on the technical stuff that needs to be done. There is always someone carrying a roll of drawings or a toolbox across the yard. It’s just a normal, hardworking environment where everyone is trying to get through their syllabus and get their diploma so they can find work.
