Prathishta Weaving & Knitting Company Ltd

Out at 2/244, Idi Karai Road in Sengalipalayam, things are a bit quieter than in the main city. Prathishta Weaving & Knitting Company Ltd is located in a spot where you can see some fields if you look out the back windows. It’s a big space because we need the room for the knitting machines and the weaving looms. They make a lot of noise when they are all running at once. Workers come in from the nearby villages every day. It’s a steady rhythm of work here. We don't have a polished lobby or a fancy entrance. This is an industrial building meant for production. The air is often filled with a bit of lint from the yarn, which is just part of the job. Most of our days are spent watching the machines and making sure the fabric comes out right. It’s a lot of physical work, honestly. We don’t have a PR department or anyone to write fancy slogans. Focus stays on the machines and the output. Sengalipalayam is a good place for this kind of work because there's enough space for the factory. Getting things transported out on Idi Karai Road can be a bit slow if there’s a tractor in the way, but we’ve learned to be patient. It’s just us out here, doing the weaving and knitting work that needs to be done. There isn't much to see except the work itself and the people who come here every morning to start the machines.
