Payal Textiles Ltd.

Payal Textiles Ltd. is situated at 81/3, Kovilpalayam, on the Karuvalur Road in S.S. Kulam. It is a bit out of the main city, which we actually prefer. The air is a little clearer and there is more space to breathe. We have a lot of fabric and yarn moving through here every day. The machines are usually humming in the background, which is a sound we’ve all grown very used to. It is a textile place, so there is lint everywhere no matter how much we sweep. We have a group of local people working with us. Most of them have been in the textile trade for a long time. We don't have a glossy brochure or a big sales team. We just produce the cloth and send it out to whoever ordered it. Karuvalur Road can be a bit bumpy, but the trucks make it through okay. We spend our time checking the looms and making sure the patterns are coming out right. It’s a lot of standing and walking around. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to do our work and make sure our families are taken care of. Some days the power goes out or a machine gets jammed, and we just deal with it as it comes. It’s a very grounded, everyday kind of life for us here in S.S. Kulam.
