P. V. J. Farms

Pollachi is where we are, specifically out by the Mahalinga Puram Post. Our spot is No. 10 on Ammaneswarark Oil Street. If you’ve been around here, you know it’s mostly about the land and what grows on it. We spend most of our time out in the dirt or checking the irrigation. It’s a farm, so there’s always something breaking or needing water. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. Usually, you’ll find someone near the shed or out by the trees. The sun is pretty hot most afternoons, so we start early. The soil here is decent if you treat it right. We grow what we can and try to keep the pests away without making a big fuss. It’s a lot of physical labor, which means our clothes are rarely clean. That’s fine with us. We’ve been at this for a bit now, learning as we go. Some years the rain is good, others not so much. We just deal with what the weather gives us. It’s not a corporate operation with spreadsheets and tie-wearing managers. It’s just us and the plants. We sell what we produce to the local markets and sometimes further out. If you stop by, you might have to wait a minute while we finish up a task. It’s just how life works out here on the farm. We have a small tea stall nearby where we go when the heat gets too much.
