Lakshmi Flour Mills

Our little mill, Lakshmi Flour Mills, is at No:603 in Ponnaiahraja Puram. Since it is a quiet residential neighborhood, we try not to make too much noise too early. Most of the neighbors bring their wheat and grains to us for grinding because we have been here for ages. The space isn't big, just enough for the machines and some benches for people to sit while they wait their turn. My father ran this place before me, and I’ve been around these grinders since I was a kid. These machines are old but they have a specific rhythm to them. You can tell if something is about to go wrong just by listening to the hum. There are no employees here, just me and my wife handling the daily orders. She takes care of the weighing and the billing while I manage the mechanical side of things. A website or a social media page isn't something we ever needed. Everyone in Ponnaiahraja Puram knows our location. The daily chats with our customers are something we really enjoy. It feels more like a community gathering spot than a regular business office. Flour gets on everything, including my hair and clothes, but that is part of the job. It is honest work that helps the people around us. Expansion isn't something we think about. We are happy with our small corner and the steady work. We keep the doors open until the sun goes down and everything is swept up.
