Kavitha Rice Traders

Kavitha Rice Traders has been sitting on 325 E Chevur Road for a long time. People in Avanashi know us well enough by now. We spend most of our mornings moving bags around and checking the different varieties we have in stock. It gets pretty hot here in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a place filled with rice sacks from floor to ceiling. We get all kinds of people coming in, from neighbors buying a few kilos to others who need much more for a function. We don't really do the whole corporate thing. It's just a few of us here making sure the orders are right. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it's quiet enough to hear the birds outside on Chevur Road. We try to keep things organized, but when a big truck shows up, everything gets a bit messy for a while. That's just how a rice trade works. We don't have a website or fancy brochures. If you need rice, you just come to Avanashi and find us. We know the local farmers and the mills, so we have a good idea of what's coming in each season. It’s a steady life, and we’re happy to be part of the community here. Even when the rains come and everything gets damp, we make sure the rice stays dry. We just enjoy the work and the people we meet every day.
