Out on Palaya Road, you’ll find us at number 12 in Ponnam Palayam. Dave and Beck Foods started because we just liked making things that people enjoy eating. It’s a small operation, honestly, and we don't have a lot of fancy equipment. We spend most of our time in the kitchen area or checking the latest batch of whatever we’re preparing that day. The smell of cooking usually travels all the way down the road, which is how most people in Ponnam Palayam know we’re actually at work. We don’t have a big fancy storefront with bright signs. It’s more of a practical space where the real work of making food happens. Sometimes the machines act up or the delivery truck is late because of the traffic on Palaya Road, and we just have to figure it out as we go. It’s mostly just a few of us here doing everything. We grew up around this area, so we know the local tastes and what people like to eat for their snacks. We don’t use any complicated ingredients that you can’t pronounce. It’s just straightforward, honest food. The floor is usually covered in a bit of flour or dust by the end of a long shift, but we clean it all up and start again early the next morning. It’s tiring work, especially when the weather gets hot in the afternoons, but it feels good to see the crates finally filled up and ready to go out to the local shops.
