Cashews are a lot of work. People don't realize how much goes into getting them out of the shell. We are over at No.104 on 3rd Street in Karups Nagar. It’s a busy little spot. We have people sitting and working through piles of nuts all day long. It’s noisy because of the shelling machines and people talking over them to be heard. We have a lot of scrap shells lying around sometimes. We try to keep it tidy but it’s a constant battle. The smell of roasted nuts is everywhere. It gets into your clothes and hair. We are just a local bunch of folks. Some of us have been working here since we were young. It’s what our families did. The building isn't much to look at from the outside. Just a plain gate and some brick walls. But inside, it’s full of life and activity. We have had some tough years when the cashew crops weren't good. We just tightened our belts and kept going. That’s how business is. You can’t predict the weather or the market prices. We just focus on what’s in front of us on the table. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are located. If you need cashews, you come to 3rd street. We will be there. We take our breaks together and talk about regular things. It's just a job, but it's our job.
