Fachar Ahiran Pragatishil Farmer Producer Company Limited

Down here in Chittorgarh, specifically in Facherahir, things move at their own pace. Our group, Fachar Ahiran Pragatishil Farmer Producer Company, is run out of Dinesh Kumar Ahir’s place. We are basically just a bunch of farmers from the village who decided it was better to work together than alone. Being a progressive farmer sounds fancy, but mostly it just means we try to learn new ways to grow our crops without going broke. We spend a lot of time sitting on the charpai outside Dinesh’s house talking about seeds and the cost of fertilizer. Chittorgarh has a lot of history, but for us, it’s all about the soil and the season. Last year was tough with the water, so we had to help each other out more than usual. We don’t have a big website or a secretary. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to wait until we come in from the fields in the evening. We handle everything ourselves, from the paperwork to loading the bags. It’s a bit unorganized sometimes, I’ll admit that. But we know our land and we know each other. That counts for a lot in this part of the world. We just want to make sure our families are fed and the village stays strong. That is why we do this.
