We've been running Sri Siva Sai here in Venkat Reddy Nagar for a good while now. Most mornings start around eight when we roll up the metal shutters and sweep out the front. Varavakatta is usually quiet early on, but it picks up once the sun gets higher. We spend a lot of our time moving stock around and checking on what came in the day before. It's dusty work sometimes, but that is just how it goes when you deal with building stuff. People stop by and ask about prices or just to see what we have on the floor that day. Sometimes we have a tea from the shop down the way and just sit on the plastic chairs for a minute before the next truck arrives. We don't really have a big fancy office or anything like that, just a desk and a couple of ledgers where we keep track of things. Our family has lived around here for years, so we know most of the faces that walk through the door. It’s a simple way to make a living, really. You get to talk to people from the neighborhood and see what they are building or fixing up. Sometimes we stay late if a delivery is delayed, but mostly we head home once the streetlights come on. It’s just us here every day, making sure things are where they need to be and the shop stays open for whoever needs us.
