Siver Bells Central School

You can find Siver Bells Central School over on Maternity Hospital Road, inside the East Mission Compound. It’s a bit of a unique spot because of the compound setting. We’ve been here for a good long while, and the name is something people recognize around town. The road outside can get pretty busy with people heading to the hospital, so there’s always a bit of noise from the traffic. Inside the gates, though, it’s mostly just the sound of kids in the classrooms or the bell ringing to change periods. The building is older, with wide corridors that stay relatively cool even when the sun is out. We have a mix of different ages here, so you see the little ones and the older students sharing the same spaces. The playground is simple, mostly just some open ground where they play football or just run around. We don’t have any of those fancy modern glass walls; it’s all brick and mortar and wooden desks that have seen many years of use. Our teachers are practical people who just want to get their points across and make sure the students understand the material. It’s an honest kind of place. We don’t try to be something we aren't. We just provide a place for the local kids to come and learn every day without a lot of fuss. It's just a regular part of the neighborhood landscape now. Sometimes the garden gets overgrown, but the school keeps going.
