Sanviford Kids School

Sanviford Kids School is tucked away on 3rd Cross in New Balaji Colony. If you know Tirupati, you know this area is usually humming with people going about their business. Our building at Door No 101 isn't hard to find once you're in the right street. We spend most of our mornings setting up toys and getting the small chairs in order. It’s noisy, as you’d expect with little kids around all day. There are drawings taped to the walls, some a bit crooked, but we leave them up because the kids worked hard on them. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we walk or take a quick rickshaw ride to work. We spend a lot of time wiping down tables and making sure everyone has their shoes on the right feet. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up. Sometimes we run out of chalk or the gate hinge squeaks, but we fix it when we can. Working with kids in Tirupati means we see a lot of families who have lived here for generations. We recognize the grandparents who come to pick up the children at noon. It isn't a high-tech operation, just some rooms, some teachers, and a lot of energy. We try to keep the place organized, though with thirty toddlers, that’s easier said than done. It’s a plain, honest place to be for a few hours before the afternoon heat sets in properly.
