Keshava Reddy School

Out here on Bazaar Street, things get pretty busy. Keshava Reddy School is located at 2-541, right in the middle of all the Thotapalyam noise. You can hear the vegetable sellers and the motorbikes passing by all day long. The building is tucked away behind some of the shops. We have been here for a while now, and the building shows it. The stairs are a bit narrow and the windows rattle when a big truck goes past on the main road. We don't have much of a playground, so the kids usually just stand around in the corridors or the small courtyard during their breaks. It's a tight squeeze sometimes. Most of us working here are from this same neighborhood, so we see the parents at the market in the evening. There isn't any fancy lobby or receptionist greeting you. You just walk in and find someone in the office if you need something. We spend most of our time dealing with lost textbooks or making sure the water cooler is filled up. The fans in the classrooms make a clicking sound that you eventually get used to. It's just a local school doing what it can with what we have. People around here know where we are if they need us. We don’t go in for big advertisements or anything like that. It’s just a place for the kids in Thotapalyam to come and sit and learn their lessons every day without any big fuss.
