Venus Study Centre

You will find us at Number 58 on Mangammal Garden 2nd Street. We are tucked away in the New Washermanpet-Tondiarpet area, right behind the Tamilnadu Towers. Chennai gets so hot, so we usually have the fans going at full speed all day long. It is a local neighborhood spot, not a big fancy institute. We have got a couple of rooms where we set up tables and chairs for the students. It is mostly kids from the surrounding streets who come here after their school day ends. We know most of the families around here by name. The street can be a bit narrow, so parking is always a bit of a puzzle, but everyone makes it work. We started this place because we saw a lot of kids needing a quiet spot to study away from their noisy houses. It is not perfect; the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the chairs aren't the most ergonomic things in the world. But it is a place where work gets done. We do not use any big words to describe what we do. We just sit with the students and help them through their textbooks. Sometimes we stay late if there is a big exam coming up. It is just part of the job. We like being part of the community here in Chennai. It feels right to be helping out the local kids in our own small way every day.
