Vijitha Academy

Mylapore is a busy part of Chennai, and our place, Vijitha Academy, is right in the middle of it on Thiruvalluvar Koil Street. Being at No.15/7 means we are close to the temple and all the activity that goes on there. You can often hear the bells ringing or the sound of people walking by outside. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of pens scratching on paper and the occasional murmur of someone explaining something. We have some old wooden desks that have been here for years. They aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. The ceiling fans hum quite loudly, which helps drown out some of the traffic noise from the street. Chennai heat is no joke, so we try to keep the windows open for a bit of a breeze, even if it brings in some dust. We aren't a big, fancy school with shiny hallways. It’s just a few rooms where people come to learn. The walls have a few old posters and some notices pinned up that are probably out of date. Usually, there’s a stack of books near the door that someone needs to move. We see a lot of different faces every day. People come from all over this part of Tamil Nadu. It’s just a plain, quiet spot where people put their heads down and get on with their studies. We don't have a lot of extras, just the basics.
