Santhosh Kannan

If you know Chennai, you know how busy Sterling Road gets during the day. I am based out of the ESIC quarters in Nungambakkam, specifically at B-32. It is a bit of an older building, but it serves its purpose for Santhosh Kannan. Working from here means dealing with the humidity every single day. I usually have the fan running at full speed just to stay focused. The quarters are quiet compared to the main road, which is nice when I have a lot to think about. My setup is pretty basic. I have a computer, a printer that jams occasionally, and a shelf full of old files. There is nothing special about the decor; it is just a workplace. Sometimes my neighbors drop by to say hello while I am busy. Nungambakkam is a good area because everything is close by, but finding a parking spot near the quarters can be a real headache. I spend my mornings going through emails and checking lists. Lunch is usually something quick brought from home or the local mess. The days go by fast when you are buried in work. I don't really bother with making the office look professional for visitors because mostly it’s just me and a couple of others. We just try to keep up with the schedule. It is a bit cramped, but we make it work somehow with what we have.
