Velu Flower Decorations

We have been here at Old Washermanpet for a long time now. Our shop is tucked away on Thangavel Pillai Thottam 3rd Street, just a short walk from the Korukupet Police Station. If you live around here, you probably know the area gets busy, especially in the mornings when the fresh flowers come in. We spend most of our days working with different kinds of blossoms, stringing them together or making arrangements for whatever someone needs. It’s a lot of manual work and our hands usually smell like jasmine or marigolds by the end of the day. We aren't a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It's just a regular place where we focus on getting the flowers right for weddings, small functions, or just daily prayers at home. Sometimes the street gets a bit crowded with deliveries, but that is just how life is in this part of Chennai. People stop by to ask for advice on what looks fresh or which colors go well together. We just try to be helpful and do the job we know. It is not always perfect, but we put in the effort to make sure the garlands are tight and the petals aren't bruised. It feels good to see a finished decoration after hours of sitting on the floor and working. We’ve seen many families grow up in this neighborhood and it's nice being a small part of their celebrations over the years.
