Our office is tucked away at No.111 on Medawalkam Tank Road. It’s an old part of Chennai and we’ve been here quite some time. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside we have everything we need to get through the day. Rows of metal cupboards filled with files and folders line the walls. Most of our work involves reading through papers and making sure all the details are right. It’s a quiet sort of place compared to the noisy road outside. A few desks and a couple of computers that have seen better days make up our workspace. Usually, we start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. People come in with their documents and we sit down to talk with them about what they need. No big signs or flashy lights are needed here. It’s just a professional office where we do our work. Sometimes the rain floods the road a bit and it gets hard for people to reach us, but we stay open. Drinking tea helps us get through the afternoon slump. It’s a small team here and we all know each other well. We don't really have a boss who hovers over us, we just know what our jobs are. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this city and we just handle the paperwork as it comes.
