Udhayam Signs

We are based at 4/25, 1St Cross Street in the New Colony area of Chromepet. This is a residential area, so it’s mostly quiet, which we like. We spend our days making signs out of all sorts of materials like metal and plastic. Our workspace is a bit small, so we often end up doing some of the cutting and assembly outside in the yard. You can usually find bits of scrap material and shavings on the ground. We try to tidy up, but it’s a constant battle. Making signs takes a lot of patience because you have to be careful with the measurements. If we make a mistake, it usually means starting the whole thing over. We have been in Chromepet for a long time and the neighbors are used to the sound of our tools. Sometimes people stop by just to see what we are making. We don’t have a showroom or any fancy displays. The work we are doing at the moment is usually what people see. It is just honest, manual labor. We get our hands dirty and we work until the light fades. We don't have a marketing team or a big strategy. We just rely on people seeing our signs and asking who made them. It has worked for us so far. We just keep doing what we know how to do every day.
