If you’re driving down Kundrathur Main Road in the Gerukambakkam area, you’ll probably see our sign for Udhaya Ceramic. We’re at number 148, which is near Porur. Our shop is full of boxes of tiles and ceramic pieces stacked up almost to the ceiling. It can get a bit cramped in here when we have a lot of new stock arriving, but we know where everything is. People come from all around Porur to look at what we’ve got. We aren't a big chain store with shiny lights and music playing. It’s just a regular shop where we help you find something that fits your bathroom or kitchen. Sometimes the traffic on Kundrathur road is a real nightmare, and it makes it hard for the delivery trucks to pull in, but we manage. My clothes usually have a bit of tile dust on them by lunch, and that’s just how it goes. We don’t bother with fancy sales talk or trying to push people into buying things they don’t need. We just show them the tiles and let them decide. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here, and we treat everyone the same whether they want one box or fifty. The humidity in Chennai can make it sweaty work, but we’ve been doing this for a long time now. It’s just a straightforward business in a busy part of town.
