Gnanam Cottage Industries

If you come down to Raghavan Colony in West Mambalam, you’ll find us at number 28. It’s a busy little spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading out. Gnanam Cottage Industries has been tucked away here on Govindan Road for a long time. It’s not a big factory or anything like that, just a local place where we get things done. The rooms are usually filled with the sound of work, and there’s always someone coming in to drop something off or pick something up. We don’t have a big fancy lobby. Usually, there’s just a few chairs and a table covered in samples or parts we’re working on. The light comes in through the side windows, and you can hear the birds in the colony trees when it’s not too loud inside. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour, and we just take a break and talk about what’s happening in the neighborhood. It’s a comfortable way to work, being right here in the middle of a residential area. We know the postman by name, and he knows exactly where to leave the parcels even if we’re in the back. It’s just us doing our thing day after day. Most people who stop by are locals or folks who have known us for years. It doesn't feel like a chore coming in here because it's such a familiar place. We just keep our heads down and stay busy.
