The Madras Market

The Madras Market is based out of No 2 Ews Flat N Block, on 2nd Main Road in Anna Nagar East. We’re quite close to Lotus Park. It’s a busy part of Chennai, and we’re right in the middle of it. Our work involves a lot of organizing and talking to vendors. We don't have a giant corporate headquarters; it’s more of a home-base where we manage the details of the market. There’s always a list of people to call or a map of stalls to figure out. We spend a lot of time thinking about how to fit everyone into a space without it becoming a total jam. It’s a bit like a puzzle. Sometimes we're out in the sun for hours marking out spots on the ground. It’s not glamorous work. We get tired, and sometimes we argue about where a specific stall should go, but we eventually get it sorted. We aren't a big marketing firm. We’re just people who like putting together a good market for the neighborhood. Anna Nagar East is a great place to be, and being near the park makes it feel a bit more open. We keep things simple and try to be honest with the people we work with. It's about getting the stalls set up, the lights on, and making sure the day goes by without too many hiccups. We just keep things moving.
