Our spot at 244 is usually covered in some layer of stone dust, which is pretty much expected in this line of work. We deal with blue metal mostly, the kind people use for concrete and road work. It’s a straightforward business, really. We get the raw material, process it through the machines, and pile it up for whenever someone needs a truckload. Dealing with the machines can be a headache sometimes because they break down right when you’re in a hurry. But we manage to fix things and keep moving. The heat on the main road can be tough during the afternoons, so we start early to beat the sun. Most of our customers are builders from around the Vandalur area who just need reliable materials for their projects. We don’t do much talk, just get the weight right and send the drivers on their way. It’s loud and messy, but it’s what we know how to do. Some days are slower than others, but there’s always something to clean or a machine to grease.
