Down here in Chennai, at 24 Vedhachalam Avenue in Thirivottriyur, things feel a bit different than at the plants up north. We are part of the Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. and the Sterlite Group of Industries. This office handles things for the southern side of the country. Thirivottriyur is a very busy industrial area, so there's always a lot of dust and noise from the heavy trucks passing by. The salt air from the nearby coast makes everything rust a little bit faster, so we’re always having to clean things. Our office is a very basic setup. We’ve got some sturdy desks, a few chairs for visitors, and plenty of filing cabinets. We focus on the aluminium trade and the industrial side of the group. People here speak a mix of languages, but we all understand the business well enough. It’s a fast-paced environment because of the proximity to the port and other industries. We don't use big words or any fancy marketing talk. We just tell you what the situation is with the orders. If a shipment is going to be late, we tell you why. If the price changes, we let you know straight away. It’s just how we do things at 600 019. The traffic on the avenue can be a total nightmare in the mornings, but we’re used to it by now. We just keep our heads down and handle the logistics. It’s a good job.
