Madras Cupprum Metals Pvt. Ltd. is situated at 28 Malai Street in Ponmar Village. It’s a bit of a drive out of Chennai, but we like being in a quieter area. We work with copper and other metals here. The factory building is large with high roofs to let the heat out, but it still gets very warm inside when the machines are running. We have a lot of scrap metal piled up in the yard and the sound of hammering is pretty constant. Most of the people working here are from the village nearby, so we all know each other well. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning. Our office is just a small room near the main gate with a couple of fans and some old wooden tables. We deal with a lot of heavy sheets and wires. It’s dirty work and our hands are usually stained by the end of the shift. We have a big tree near the entrance where we sit during our lunch breaks to get some shade. Ponmar is a peaceful place compared to the city, even with the noise from our factory. We don't have a fancy logo or a marketing team. We just focus on making the metal parts that our customers order. It’s a straightforward business and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time. We just take it one day at a time and keep the machines moving.
