The Schram Academy

Our spot is at Number 1, Schram Avenue in Maduravoyal, right in the thick of things in Chennai. The Schram Academy has been sitting here while the city has grown up all around it. If you know this area, you know the traffic can be a real headache, but we have our own little space tucked away from the main road noise. The building is a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it, with stairs and corridors leading to different wings. We have a lot of people coming and going every day, from the bus drivers to the office staff and the teachers. It is a busy place, and it stays that way from eight in the morning until late in the afternoon. We spend a lot of time making sure the registers are filled out and that the classrooms are ready for the next day. The humidity in Chennai means we are always looking for a bit of shade or a fan. It is a very human place. You will see teachers sharing their lunch or students helping each other with a heavy box of books. There isn't anything fancy about how we run things; we just try to be consistent and keep the school functioning as it should. It is an honest living for the people who work here, and we have become a staple of the Maduravoyal landscape over the years. We just keep doing what we do.
