The Lords International School

Out in Perungalathur, on Munuadhi Road, you will find our school at No 428/1. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city center of Chennai, which makes it a little different than the schools right in the thick of things. We have a fair amount of space here. The building isn't brand new, but it holds up well. Every morning, the buses roll in and the place suddenly wakes up. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. It’s mostly just making sure the kids learn their subjects and stay out of trouble during recess. The playground gets a lot of use, and you can usually find some football or cricket going on if the weather isn't too miserable. Inside, the classrooms are filled with the usual stuff—posters on the walls, stacks of notebooks, and rows of desks. Our staff is mostly local people who live nearby. We know the shopkeepers on the road and the families who live in the area. It’s a steady kind of life. When the rains come, the road outside gets a bit muddy, but we just carry on. We spend our afternoons grading papers or getting things ready for the next day. It’s a simple routine, but it keeps us on our toes. By the time evening rolls around, the building is empty and we lock up the gates until tomorrow morning.
