Stonage Creations

Getting up to the second floor at 5/2 Kutty Street takes a bit of a climb, but we are always here. Nungambakkam is a busy area, so the street noise usually drifts up through the windows throughout the day. Stonage Creations is basically just a workshop where we put things together. There is a lot of scrap material laying around on the benches and the floor. We do a lot of designing and making stuff, mostly manual work. It isn't a showroom with bright lights or mirrors. Most of the time, the fans are just humming and someone is marking leather or cutting something with a heavy pair of shears. We’ve been in this building for a few years now. The hallway outside is a bit narrow. Sometimes the courier guy gets lost trying to find us since the sign is small and hand-painted. We spend our days looking at patterns and trying to get the edges straight. It is quiet work for the most part. I usually have tea around four and look out at the rooftops. We don't do big advertisements or anything fancy. Most people find us because they know someone who came here before. It's a small team, maybe four or five of us on a good day. We have a lot of tools and they aren't always put back where they belong. But we know where everything is. It’s a bit messy, but that is how we work. It’s just a normal business.
