You can find us over at 20, Kamalapuram Colony in Chennai. It is a decent enough spot, though parking can be a real pain if you get here late in the morning. We are the local office for State Bank Of India Life Insurance, so we deal with a lot of paperwork and people coming in to ask about their policies. It is not like the big main banks you see downtown; this place feels a bit more like a neighborhood office. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know each other’s habits and who makes the best tea. The office itself is pretty plain with rows of files and a few fans that hum all day long to keep the humidity at bay. We spend a lot of time explaining things to folks who walk in off the street, trying to make sense of all the forms they have to sign. It gets busy on certain days of the month, and then it is just a scramble to keep up with the queues. We do not really do anything fancy here, just the basic work of keeping records straight and helping people out with their insurance stuff. When the clock hits five or six, we usually pack up and head home to deal with the Chennai traffic like everyone else. It is a regular job in a regular part of town, nothing more than that. Most of us just want to get the papers filed correctly.
