Our little consultancy is located at No.9, Second Street in Chennai. We’ve been in this part of Tamil Nadu for a while, and the 600039 area code is home to us. It’s a placement office, so it’s mostly just us sitting around talking to people about their careers. Chennai is a big city with so many people looking for a way to earn a living, and we end up seeing a lot of them walk through our doors. Some days the office is quiet and we just go through emails, but other days there’s a line of people waiting to talk. We don't have any fancy slogans or a big corporate vibe. It’s just a room with some desks and a few chairs for visitors. We try to be practical about things. If someone isn't right for a job, we tell them, and if a company is asking too much, we tell them that too. It’s about being real with people. The weather in Chennai can be tough, especially in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going and try to stay focused on the tasks at hand. It’s not glamorous work, but it feels important when someone actually gets the job they were hoping for. We’ve seen the job market change a lot, but the basic need for a decent paycheck never really goes away. We just keep doing our part to help people find that.
