About St Thomas College Of Arts & Science – Education in Chennai
Koyambedu is always a bit of a madhouse because of the bus terminus nearby, but our spot on AKR Road is tucked just enough away that it’s manageable. The college building at No 140/6 is a tall, functional structure that’s seen a lot of students pass through its doors over the years. Chennai’s humidity is always a factor, so the walls often look a bit damp and the paint peels away in places, but we try to keep it looking decent. The students are always hanging around the entrance or near the local tea stalls outside between their lectures. Inside, the hallways are wide and made of stone, which echoes quite a bit when everyone is rushing to their next class. Our library is probably the only quiet place in the whole building, though even there you can hear the faint hum of the city traffic. The office staff are usually buried under heaps of admission forms and exam papers, and the computers we use are a few years old now and a bit slow. We don’t have a lot of fancy extra things, just the basics like a canteen that serves decent coffee and classrooms with enough benches for everyone. It’s a busy, practical environment where people are focused on getting their degrees and moving on. There’s no pretense here; it’s just a typical Chennai college where we deal with the heat and the crowds every single day of the week.
