Sri Venkateswara Engineering Works

We've been over here on Thirumullaivoyal Main Road for a long time now. The shop is right near the Pothaiyamman Koli Street corner. It’s mostly just us working with the machines every day. Sri Venkateswara Engineering Works started because there was a need for someone local to handle the metal stuff. Sometimes the noise is a lot, but that’s just how a workshop goes. People come by with all sorts of broken parts or things that need fixing up. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just the floor and the tools. My hands are usually covered in oil by ten in the morning. Korattur has changed quite a bit since we opened the shutters for the first time. We remember when the roads were different and there were fewer buildings around here. Mostly, we just focus on the job at hand. It might be a small bracket or a larger piece of machinery. We take it as it comes. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we get back to it. It’s steady work. We know the neighbors and the other shop owners on the street. It’s a good community to be part of. We just try to do what’s asked of us without making a fuss. If someone drops something off, we put it in the queue. That's how it's been for years. The rain sometimes leaks through the roof, but we just move the machines and keep going.
