Sivagami Engineering Works

Sivagami Engineering Works is located at No. 2/62 B on West Mada Street in Kovur. We are right opposite the main bus stop, so there is always a crowd of people waiting for their ride just outside our gate. The shop is usually loud with the sound of grinding and metal hitting metal. We do all sorts of engineering jobs, from small repairs to making parts for bigger machines. The floor is always covered in iron shavings and a bit of oil, which is typical for a workshop like ours. Being on West Mada Street means we see the temple processions and the daily rush of the village. It is a dusty job, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the day. We have a few lathes and welding sets that have been with us for years. They aren't the newest models, but they get the job done if you know how to handle them. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you come by, you just walk into the shed and talk to whoever isn't holding a torch at the moment. It’s the kind of place where we know our customers by name because they have been coming to us for their metalwork for a long time. We just keep the shutters up and work through the heat until the last bus leaves the stop across the street. It is hard work but it is what we do.
