Sri Sai Annaporani

Washermanpet is always a crowded area, especially around Manikandan 6th Street. We set up Sri Sai Annaporani right here because there are always people walking by heading towards the shops or the station. Being near GRT Jewellers means there is a lot of foot traffic throughout the day. Our place isn't very large, just enough room for people to sit down and eat something before they go back to their work. The street outside can be quite loud with all the horns and people shouting. We are used to it by now. The morning time is probably our busiest when people are looking for a quick breakfast. We have a few guys working in the back who have been with us since we opened. It is hard work keeping up with the Chennai heat and the steam from the pots. We try to keep the floors clean, though it is tough when it rains outside and everyone brings in mud. Most of the people who come in live just a few streets away or work in the nearby textile shops. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertisements. People just know we are here. It is a simple setup with basic tables and chairs. We just focus on getting the food ready and serving whoever walks through the door. Some days are slow, but usually, we are on our feet until we close up for the night. It is just a part of the daily life here in North Chennai.
