We’ve been here at number 98 on Choolai High Road for quite some time now. It’s an old building, number 113 if you’re looking at the old records, and the street outside is always noisy with traffic and people walking by. Our shop is usually filled with the smell of ink and the sound of the machines running in the back. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait, which is frustrating but that’s just how things go around here. People come in with all sorts of requests, from small things to bigger jobs that take us a few days to get through. The desks are usually covered in paper scraps and rulers. We don’t have a fancy waiting area or anything like that, just a couple of plastic chairs near the entrance for whoever is stopping by to pick up their order. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, especially when all the equipment is running at once. Most of the folks who live around Choolai know where we are because we’ve been in this same spot for years. We just try to get the work done and keep the machines from jamming up too often. It’s a busy life here on the high road, and there’s always something that needs fixing or a customer waiting at the counter while we finish up a print run. We just keep at it day after day.
