Our flower shop is located right on Raja Annamalai Road in Purasawalkam. If you know where Hotel Jaser Prakash is, we are basically right there. We deal with flowers all day long. It's a messy business sometimes with all the stems and water on the floor, but we've been at it for a good bit now. Most of our work is for weddings or small functions around Chennai. Purasawalkam is a busy area, so there is always something going on in the streets. We start very early in the morning when the fresh loads of flowers come in. The shop is at number ten, and it’s usually quite full of roses and marigolds depending on what’s in season. We don't really do much advertising; people just know us from being in the neighborhood for so long. Sometimes we travel to different parts of the city for bigger jobs, but our home base is definitely here near the hotel. It gets quite loud outside with the traffic and the people, but we just keep working through it. Handling flowers is delicate, so we spend a lot of time just sitting and stringing them together or making arrangements. It's not a corporate setup, just a local spot where we get our hands dirty. We've seen the area change over the years, but we're still here doing the same thing every day. It is just how we make our living and we are used to the routine.
