Sivanandam Traders

Sivanandam Traders has been operating out of No. 42 on Syed Abdullah Street for quite a while now. We are just off Mount Road, so we get all that noise from the bus stop nearby. It’s a busy part of Chennai, and you can always hear the buses pulling in and out. The shop itself is pretty old-school. We have high ceilings and those old wooden counters that have seen better days. It stays a bit cooler inside than out on the street, which is a blessing in this humidity. We don’t really have a big marketing plan or a social media page. Most people just see our sign when they’re walking from the Mount Road bus stop and decide to pop in. We sell a variety of things, and the stock changes depending on what’s available. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time navigating the narrow street, so we end up hauling boxes by hand quite a bit. It’s tiring work, but it keeps us moving. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street, and we often share a tea in the afternoons when things quiet down for a bit. It’s a steady life, and we don’t ask for much more than that. We just show up, open the doors, and see who the day brings in. It's an honest way to make a living in a very busy city like this one.
