Sicco Engineering Works

Sicco Engineering Works is located at 454 in the Ambattur Industrial Estate. This area has been the heart of manufacturing for a long time, and our workshop is a small part of that history. When you walk in, you’ll see lathes, milling machines, and stacks of metal rods leaning against the walls. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. The noise is constant—high-pitched whirs and the low thrum of the bigger machines running in the back. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anyone to greet you at the door; you usually just have to shout over the noise to get someone’s attention. Most of our day is spent measuring things down to the millimeter and making sure the cuts are clean. We drink a lot of tea to keep going, and the cups usually end up sitting on a workbench next to some blueprints. The Ambattur heat can be tough, especially with the machines running, so we keep all the doors open to get whatever breeze we can. It’s a place for people who like to build things and fix things. We don’t bother with much else. The windows are a bit grimy from the oil mist, and the floor is stained, but it’s a real shop where real work gets done every single day. We’ve been here for years and plan to stay for many more.
