Shivam Traders

Our shop is number 42, right on the Chennai Theni Highway in Chromepet. Being on the highway means there is always a lot of dust and noise from the heavy traffic, but it also means people find us easily. We are situated in Kamakshi Colony. It’s a straightforward trading business. We spend the day dealing with suppliers and customers who need various materials. The shop floor is usually covered with whatever we’ve just unloaded from a truck. It’s hard work, moving heavy stuff around in the heat. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and handle the cash. The fan doesn't do much when it’s really hot out, but we stay busy enough that we don't think about it too much. Usually, the morning starts with a lot of phone calls to check on shipments. It’s a lot of back and forth. We’ve been here for several years now, and the highway has only gotten busier. Sometimes people stop by just because they saw our sign while driving towards Theni. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the inventory inside out. It’s a basic setup, nothing like those big showrooms in the city center. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure the stock is available when someone asks for it. The neighbors are good people too and we help each other.
