Shanthi Driving School

We’ve been running Shanthi Driving School in Choolaimedu for a while now. Most people around here know where we are. It’s a busy part of Chennai, so learning to drive here takes some real patience. We usually start the day early before the traffic gets too heavy on the main roads. It is mostly just us and the students in the car, trying to get the hang of the clutch and the gears without stalling. Some people pick it up fast, others take a few more weeks, and that is just how it goes. We handle the paperwork for the license too because the RTO office can be a bit confusing if you go there alone. Our cars aren't brand new luxury models, but they work fine for learning. You’ll see us driving around the Choolaimedu streets most afternoons. We just try to make sure people feel okay behind the wheel before they go out on their own. It’s a small operation here. Sometimes the weather is hot and the AC in the car struggles, but we get through the lessons. There’s no fancy office, just a place to sit and talk about the rules of the road. People come to us from nearby streets, mostly young adults or sometimes older folks who finally decided it was time to learn. We just sit in the passenger seat, keep a foot near the extra brake, and watch the mirrors carefully as we go along.
