Shanthi Catering Services

Shanthi Catering Services has been operating out of Mylapore for quite a while now. We are located at New No 24 on Kutchery Road, which used to be Old No 16. It’s a very traditional part of Chennai, and we are right opposite the Kapaleswarar Temple. You can usually hear the temple bells from our place while we are working. Most of our work involves cooking for people who want the kind of food we make here in South India. We don’t have a big storefront, it’s mostly about the kitchen and getting the food out to where it needs to go. We wake up very early, usually while it’s still dark, to start the cooking process so everything is fresh for the morning orders. The streets in Mylapore are narrow and can get very crowded, especially during festival times, so we have to be careful with our timing. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we have the same few people helping us every day. We don't use any fancy machines, just the usual big stoves and grinders. People around here know us because we’ve been on Kutchery Road for so long. We just focus on making the food the way we were taught. It’s a lot of hard work and standing on our feet all day, but we are used to it by now. We just take the orders as they come and do the work.
