Service Engineer

You can find us at number 12, on the 4th Cross Street in New Colony, Porur. Chennai is always a bit hectic, and this part of the city is no different, especially with the traffic around the 116 area. We call ourselves Service Engineer, which is exactly what we do. We aren't some massive company with layers of management. It’s just us here in the shop, surrounded by gadgets and spare parts. Most days, the 4th Cross Street is humming with people going about their business, and we are right in the middle of it. We started out small and stayed that way because it’s easier to manage the work ourselves. When someone brings something in, they talk to the person who is actually going to fix it. There isn't any fancy paperwork or complicated systems. We just write down what’s wrong and get to it. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for a part to arrive from across town, but that’s just part of the job. The shop can get a bit cluttered when we have a lot of projects going on at once, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the tea stall guy bring us something around four. We just keep our heads down and work on whatever is in front of us until the day is done. It is not glamorous, but it is what we know how to do well enough.
