Selva Engineering Works

We are located at No-26 on Vallalar Street in Selvam Nagar. That’s in the Pallikaranai area of Chennai, technically Kanchipuram district depending on who you ask about the borders. It’s a busy spot. Selva Engineering Works is a place where there's always the sound of metal hitting metal or machines humming in the background. It’s hot, especially during the summer months when the Chennai sun is beating down on the roof. We don't have fancy air conditioning in the workshop, just some big industrial fans that move the hot air around. Our team is mostly made up of guys who have been working with their hands for years. We do a lot of fabrication and repair work. The floor is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or oil, but that’s just how an engineering shop looks. We don't spend money on fancy signs or office furniture. Most of our budget goes into keeping the machines running. People from all over the neighborhood bring us things to fix, and we do our best with what we have. It’s hard work and your hands are never really clean, but it’s what we know how to do. We’ve been in Selvam Nagar for a good while, and most of the locals know where to find us on Vallalar Street. It’s a simple existence but we are proud of it.
