Selva Engineering Works

Selva Engineering Works is located at 26, Vallalar Street. It’s a quiet corner of Selvam Nagar in Pallikaranai, though it isn’t always quiet inside the workshop. There is usually the sound of some machine running or someone hammering away at a piece of metal. We started this place because we like working with our hands. It’s a small space, and it gets pretty crowded with tools and scrap metal and half-finished projects. If you come by, you’ll probably see us with grease on our hands or dust on our clothes. That’s just the nature of engineering works. We take in various jobs from the people around Pallikaranai. Some are small fixes and others take a few days of tinkering. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small desk where we keep the ledger and the phone. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but there is always something to clean or prep while we wait. Vallalar Street is a nice place to be based. The neighbors don't mind the noise too much, or at least they don't say anything to us. We just try to do a solid job on whatever is brought into the shop. It’s not a complicated life. We open up in the morning, drink some coffee, and get to work on the lathes or the welding bench. It is just a local workshop trying to stay busy and get things done right. We keep the floor swept, but it never stays clean for long in this line of work.
